"Parnass"

This piece of art rock was written during the early summer of 1999. I was trying
to make a tune with a stronger and more easily-followed melody, but still going for
an intricate pattern of harmony and non-repeating structure. Most samples were
taken from my Roland XP-10, all in 16 bit 44.1kHz resolution. The title "Parnass"
refers to Greek mythology, in which Parnass is an allegory over the strive for
perfection in any artform. Parnass is the mountain where the nine muses
live. There are nine steps in the stairway leading to the top, and for each step
the artist manages to climb he gains a higher level of perfection.
